A Focused Course of Treatment Starts
with a Sound Assessment
Intake Assessment
Prior to starting treatment, if a specialized assessment is not needed, individuals are seen for an initial assessment appointment to gain a better understanding of what problems are being experienced. This appointment is generally about 1.5 hours and it is an opportunity to conceptualize your difficulties and use this information to construct a treatment plan.
Having an assessment benefits you by providing a focused path in treatment. It can also be an opportunity for you to look at your difficulties in a different way. As with any service we provide, the process is transparent so that you can be informed and be a collaborator in your care.
While emotions can be overwhelming, discussing them with a professional can be an important first step towards making things clearer.
